The infection by the virus of The feline Immuno-depression (FIV)
The virus of The feline Immuno-depression (FIV) is the virus responsible for the AIDS of the cat. This last not having anything to see with the man's AIDS. The two species not capable to contaminate themselves. The virus of the cat (FIV) is besides not only absolutely not transferable to the man but to no other species of company animals. The two illnesses being different. Why such a name then? Because all as the man's AIDS, it drags among the cat a decrease of the defenses of the organism that becomes then sensitive to all infections.
The signs of the illness are very near of those of the feline leucose: these are infections to repetition, notably to the level of the mouth.
His/her/its transmission makes itself mainly by bite and scratch, but also by uterine way (of the mother to the f.tus) and maybe by genital way (at the time of the mating).
Vaccine doesn't exist, nor efficient treatment.
The prevention essentially rests on the castration of the males (to avoid to the maximum the fights), and the confinement of the animals reached for the same reason.
A kitten given up is not tested on this point but his/her/its parents must be he. A breeder will show the papers of the tests of the father and the mother naturally of the aforesaid kitten.
No delay of suspicion has been defined for this illness. The action in justice makes itself once again by presentation of a certificate of suspicion signed by the veterinary and containing the result of the serological test.
